Guided Exhibition Tour: Hidden Beauty
The eight exhibition rooms of Kunsthalle Nürnberg are shining in a fresh light after a comprehensive energetic renovation of the roofs. Its clear visual axes and changing proportions now enable the architecture to provide the starting point and frame of reference for expansive sculptures and site-specific installations by Nevin Aladağ, Monica Bonvicini, Olafur Eliasson, Ann Veronica Janssens, Michail Pirgelis, Laure Prouvost, Thomas Rentmeister, Karin Sander and Haegue Yang. Their spatial concepts are inspired by the strategies of the environment, participation, conceptual art, and Minimal Art of the 1960s, yet they outline a light-handed, playful, and humorous link to the present. The exhibition title Hidden Beauty alludes just as much to the architecture of Kunsthalle Nürnberg, hidden within the medieval city wall, as to the art creating situations in this space where you can physically encounter and experience unexpected perceptions.
